PET CT

64 Slice PET CT with Self Shielded Cyclotron (Siemens)

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Computed Tomography (CT)

In keeping with the strong tradition of innovation,Neurospinal& Cancer Care Institute (NCCI) was the first private facilityin Pakistan providing the services of a 64 Slice PET-CT Scanner in Karachi since 2013, the most experience PET CT Scan in the province of Sindh.

WHAT IS A PET-CT

  • PET-CT combines the functional information from a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) exam with anatomical information from a Computed Tomography (CT) exam and merges them as one.
  • A PET scan detects changes in cellular function – how cells are utilizing nutrients like sugar and oxygen. Since these functional changes take place before physical changes occur, PET-CT can provide information that enables physicians to make an early diagnosis.

BENEFITS OF PET-CT

  • Diagnosis (Detection of the cancer).
  • Staging and Restaging (Determining spread of cancer in the body).
  • Grading (Determining the aggressiveness of the cancer).
  • Monitoring therapy response (Assess the effectiveness of the treatment plan).
  • Detecting recurrence.
  • Detection of unknown primary cancer.
  • Detection of cancer when only tumor markers are elevated in blood and no clinical or radiological evidence of cancer is evident.
  • Providing viable tumor information for more concise radiotherapy planning.
